How To Spot The Signs

I could actually write a book on the many signs that I’ve received from the Universe that have led me to some of the most profound changes in my life (see the number 5 and red cardinals). This is probably one of my most favorite aspects of my relationship with the Universe. The sense of knowing and confidence in knowing that I am always, always guided by the loving signs of the Universe brings me a feeling of infinite love and peace (and if I’m really being honest - a little bit of fear when I don’t know what they have up their sleeve next for me!).

For instance, just the other day I looked out my window to find a blue jay and cardinal flying in tandem. It was beautiful and I was grateful to be there to witness something you don’t typically see everyday. As I previously mentioned, I have a history with cardinals and their meaning in my life, but that’s a blog for another day…

Speed up to today, Eloise pointed out a blue jay and cardinal flying by us on a walk as we strolled through one of my happy places near the beach. I smiled to myself and told my family about the two that I saw just the other day. I mentioned that I’m getting the sense that it’s a sign and carried on.

When we got home, Eloise and I went for a walk down our street. I had set up a “street toy swap” where neighbors put out old toys that they no longer used on their front steps and kids walked up and down the street “shopping” for new goodies to bring home. We stopped by all the houses that had toys outside except for one, as our lazy dog wanted to go home for his mid-morning nap. I promised Eloise that we would return to that house after we dropped our dog back home.

On our second walk down the block, I pointed out a house next door to our intended destination. I said, “Eloise, mama loves this house, do you know why?” The house number is 55 and on their picket fence is a plaque with a red ‘55’ and cardinal painted above it. I told Eloise my “famous” story about the Universe, a couple of cardinals, and the number 5, and we kept on walking.

Just a few steps later, we arrived at the final house on the block to look at the toys that were being given away. This house, however, had mostly books displayed for both kids and adults. I immediately was drawn to a blue book. I could only see the bind and the title, “This Is How You Lose The Time War.” Interesting title, I thought, but not enough for me to pick it up and look at the cover or read the back description. Eloise continued to pick out books, I chatted with the homeowners, and just as we were about to leave, I felt inclined once more to give the book a peak. I actually yelped when I picked the book up and saw the cover. I shit you not - a cardinal and blue jay were front and center on the front. I obviously grabbed the book and ran home to tell Chris.

I don’t know yet what this signifies or what is to come, but I am certain that the Universe has a message in it for me. And while I had that sense from my first experience seeing the birds outside my window, when you don’t trust what you see, the Universe goes out of its way to make you believe - like it did today. Twice.

Once back home, I did a little meditation and trust that now is my time to set intentions and allow the Universe to guide and bring me to what is for my highest good and in pursuit of all of my heart’s deepest desires.

It’s a little scary to know that the Universe has something in store for you. In those moments, I remind myself that the Universe always has my back and will hold my hand and walk me through wherever I am traveling to next. Just as it’s always done, when I follow the signs.

In my mini-meditation earlier, I was encouraged to share with you what I heard:

Follow the signs.

Step into your power, your purpose, and your peace.

The signs are all around you. Simply ask to see them and they will be revealed. In numbers, songs, animals, a thought that pops up or a gut feeling you can’t ignore. Feel into the signs as opposed to trying to make sense or analyze them. If it feels good, lean into it. If it doesn’t, veer off. The Universe is always working to support you and what is for your highest good. Even when it feels like you are so disconnected from the spiritual world - you just have to ask to see it. Look around. Pay attention. If it helps, repeat the following mantra:

Divine timing. Divine guidance. Divine protection.

Enjoy moon beams. Looks like something good is brewin'.

Feel good.

xx,

J.
